Re-imagine a Fairy Tale

Final project for class PROD 103 (Intro to Production Design)

Assignment Brief: This is a group project where each group was assigned a classic fairy tale. Each group must then adapt that fairy tale into a new time/place with new plot elements that are inspired by and complement the original story. The plot of this new fairy tale must have storyboards for each beat and one scene must be selected to be fully story boarded out including costumes for at least five characters in the scene and a set model for where the scene unfolds. The finished fairy tale must be presented using the animated energy of a storyboard presentation (acting out as much as possible and providing additional character information through voice and body language).

The fairy tale my group was given was Little Red Riding Hood, and we chose to adapt it to 1925 United States. A Young Girl (Kathleen/Little Red) dreams of becoming an actress so she leaves her small town and heads for NYC where she meets an Industry Man (Arthur Alastor/The Wolf). My contributions to the project included story beats and plot, mood boards and historical research for the time period/1920s show culture, voicing characters and miming in the final presentation as well as the costume renderings and swatches of each character in our selected scene.
