Design A Film
Assignment for PROD 322 (Character Interpretation for Costume in Film and Television)
Assignment Brief: Choose one of the films from the provided list. Provide screenplay analysis, world analysis, and character analysis through research, evocative imagery, and renderings. Understand the design of character further by creating theoretical costume piece breakdowns, sourcing, and budgeting. Concept an element of the design with a theoretical screen test.
The selected (unnamed) film script: Script 4 - A western featuring an impeccable marks-woman who seeks the truth. For my take on this project, I decided to re-imagine the story to take place in Ancient Greece.

Screen Test
An aspect of my designs for this project was giving certain characters an exomis (a garment commonly worn by male workers in ancient Greece) with extra draped parts to hold or conceal their tools and accessories- and thus serving the same purpose as a holster/tool belt. I was concerned how this would affect the movement of characters since I feel duels would be more physical in Ancient Greece than in the Wild West, so I screen tested this design in the form of a draped mock up.
This video shows how easily this aspect can be taken out of the way when a character wants to fight!
